The storm system named Storm Benjamin, identified by Météo‑France and monitored by multiple European meteorological agencies, is generating heavy rainfall and gusts of strong winds as it moves from the English Channel toward the North Sea.
The Met Office has issued several yellow weather warnings across England and Wales.
At the same time, KNMI (Netherlands) has upgraded its alert level to code orange for western coastal provinces as gusts reach up to 120 km/h.

In Ireland the national weather service Met Éireann has issued an 11-hour Status Yellow rain warning for parts of the west and centre, with over 30 mm expected in 24 hours.
The Met Office forecasts wind gusts of 50-60 mph widely with potential for 65–70 mph near coasts.
A deputy meteorologist noted that “there is a greater than usual uncertainty surrounding the track and intensity of this low-pressure system.”
In the Netherlands the storm's timeline is advancing ahead of initial expectations.
The KNMI warns:
“Starting this morning, strong wind gusts are possible from the southwest and south” and a code orange will apply from this afternoon in the western provinces.
In London, heavy rain and gusty winds have led to service disruptions.
A fallen tree caused suspension of part of the Overground line.
Gusts of more than 40 mph have already been recorded in the capital.
